Emily Stone copper boat on wild sea sculpture

boat on wild sea sculpture

My boat on a wild sea is full of contrasts: the intense black and dark colours of the sea and the boat, against the bright copper of the sails; the clean curves of the sails, and the smooth hull of the boat, and the hard straight lines of the mast and mainstay, against the chaotic torn shapes of the wild sea and the lashing invisible wind. It also is about capturing the order of directional movement from the chaos of the elements. People aren’t necessarily consciously aware of all that; they just say ‘I like your boat.’
